JOHN SWINNEY RESOUNDINGLY ELECTED
John Swinney
John Swinney is currently the MSP for Perthshire North and currently the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth.
In 2011 John won the new Perthshire North constituency increasing his majority to 10,353 and gained 61% of the votes cast.
Speaking after his historic election night, John Swinney said -
“I feel very privileged to have been elected as the MSP for Perthshire North and am grateful to the 18,219 people who voted for me in last Thursday’s election. I had never imagined that I would be supported by 61 per cent of the electorate and sent to Holyrood with a majority more than 10,000. I warmly thank those who supported me and pledge to serve each and every constituent, regardless of the way they voted, without fear or favour.”
Mr Swinney has represented East Perthshire at Holyrood since 1999, his previous election victory in 2007 was, at the time, the largest constituency vote for any candidate in Scotland, he has now increased his popularity in the region.

Perthshire North Constituency
The new Perthshire North seat takes in the rural part of North Tayside and the City Centre Ward of Perth. This area includes Highland and East Perthshire, Scone, the Carse of Gowrie and the North Muirton, Muirton. Kinnoull, Gannochy and the City Centre areas of Perth.
